SCULPTURAL NEST

For my third commissioned nest, the awesome clients asked for a piece to go in the dramatic foyer of their St. Louis home. We considered a conventional wall installation, but the site called for that extra dimension, and I loved the challenge. They excitedly shared meaningful stones hoping they might find a spot to nestle (see grey rock image below), and this became a nice nexus point.

I’m not a fan of styrofoam and especially not heating it up (truly sorry planet), but the core needed to be as light as possible before applying the concrete + mosaic materials, for the completed piece to be liftable!

Adam Adelmann, ironworking genius, created the elegant branches for the nest to perch.

Once again, I packed a van and hit the road! I suppose this one could have been shipped since it didn’t require any installation, but there was such joy for me, in seeing it in situ in their entryway.
